Meet the Speakers
Prof Dr Christoph Schmitz
Head of Chair II, Dept. of Anatomy, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich
Prof. Schmitz is deeply involved in researching the treatment of various conditions of the musculoskeletal system using extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) and, more recently, autologous stem cells. His focus is on elucidating molecular and cellular mechanisms and their applicability in daily practice. Prof. Schmitz has extensively published on these topics with colleagues from all five continents; currently, nearly 200 of his publications are indexed in PubMed. Two of his publications on ESWT for plantar fasciitis and knee osteoarthritis have received the highest rating ever achieved for ESWT studies in the PEDro database, with 9 out of 10 possible points.
