Prof Christoph Schmitz

Prof Dr Christoph Schmitz, MD, holds Chair II at the Department of Anatomy, Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. He is a scientific advisor for the "Sportärztezeitung" and the scientific director of the continuing education series "Shockwave Therapy & Complementary Methods." In addition to his research on changes in the brain of patients with schizophrenia and autism, Prof Schmitz is deeply involved in researching the treatment of various conditions of the musculoskeletal system using extracorporeal shockwave therapy (ESWT) and, more recently, autologous stem cells. Currently, nearly 200 of his publications are indexed in PubMed. Two of his publications on ESWT for plantar fasciitis and knee osteoarthritis have received the highest rating ever achieved for ESWT studies in the PEDro database, with 9 out of 10 possible points.
